How to print your personalized newspaper
Every design works in US Letter and A4. The right choice depends on the paper your printer can use. The size shown in the studio is the finished page your guest holds.
| Edition | Finished size | Paper to print on |
|---|---|---|
| Single · front & back | US Letter · 8.5 × 11 in | 1 US Letter sheet |
| Folded · 4 pages, with optional 4-page section | US Letter · 8.5 × 11 in | Tabloid · 11 × 17 in |
| Single · front & back | A4 · 210 × 297 mm | 1 A4 sheet |
| Folded · 4 pages, with optional 4-page section | A4 · 210 × 297 mm | A3 · 297 × 420 mm |
| Flat collection · 6 pages | US Letter · 8.5 × 11 in, or A4 · 210 × 297 mm | 3 sheets in the same size, printed front & back |
The four-page newspaper uses one folded sheet. An optional four-page section adds a second folded sheet. The six-page collection stays flat, on three double-sided sheets; optional additions are two-page sheets, up to ten pages total. A six-page collection is not a folded booklet.
Which file should I use?
Reading PDF: every page in normal reading order. Use it to review the edition or send it to a print shop that will arrange the sheets for you.
Booklet print PDF: two pages on each side of the larger sheet, already ordered for folding. Choose the matching paper size, landscape and Actual Size / 100%. Do not apply booklet mode a second time. Duplex printers usually need short-edge flipping for this landscape file; check a test sheet because driver wording differs.
Single sheet and six-page collection: print each front-and-back pair on one Letter or A4 sheet, at actual size, usually with long-edge flipping. For manual duplex, follow your printer’s reinsertion instructions.
Two PDFs, one beautiful edition
Print-ready PDF: the finished artwork with embedded fonts, ready for your print shop. Folded editions also include a booklet PDF with the pages already arranged.
Editable PDF: click a text field in a compatible PDF reader, correct a typo and save a copy. The photographs and page composition stay in place. Editing this file does not update the separate print-ready PDF. Print the corrected copy for a flat edition. For a folded newspaper, download a fresh booklet from My editions, or ask your print shop to arrange the corrected reading pages for folding. For larger wording or photo changes, reopen your purchased edition in My editions and export an updated print file. Five updated studio exports are included within 90 days for the same product, page count and paper size.
Paper with the right feeling
For the classic newspaper designs, ask a specialist printer about lightweight uncoated newsprint. For richer photographs or the magazine and memory-album designs, a smooth matte uncoated stock gives a cleaner finish. A local print shop can show you paper samples; lighter stocks fold more easily when adding an extra newspaper section.
For a home proof, use the plain paper and weight your printer supports. Do not feed thin newsprint into a home printer unless its manufacturer allows it. Most home printers cannot handle Tabloid or A3; a local print shop is often the easier option for a full-size folded edition.
Your first-copy check
- Print one complete copy before a batch.
- Fold the newspaper, or arrange the flat sheets, and check every page. Check page order and which way the reverse sides face.
- Check faces, names, dates, small text and photographs in daylight.
- Compare color or black and white on the actual paper.
The PDFs include white margins, embedded fonts and RGB color. No trimming is needed; bleed and crop marks are not included. Tell your print shop these details before ordering.
